ABOUT ME

Me Talk My Edits

I'm Uncyclomedia UnMeta's coordinator (bureaucrat) at this moment and encountered many issues with Wikia in the past. Some of my actions against the company were very "reactionary" and not seldom "rude", but I felt the need to fight against some injustice created by them. First of all, let this be clear: wiki farms like Wikia are not to be discouraged for different types of commercial activities such as a film's fan wiki or some other superficial themes (e.g. recipes, gags...). However, databases that are likely to grow out and wikis that are going to have prospering communities will possibly look forward to enjoy more sovereignty and freedom (i.e. create own design, choose own skin, install new extensions, manage namespaces, etc.). Can wikis enjoy this freedom on Wikia? The answer is no. Though, when they move out, Wikia will do anything to avoid it (forking domains, banning old bureaucrats and recruting new ones by their "adopt a wiki" page.

You may certainly think: yeah, well, the creators of these wikis had to think twice before they even did hit that "I accept" button. At that point there is no kind of "accept" button. There is no license agreement. Totally nothing.
